Thank you (always) for being a friend, Samantha!
Thanks for a fantastic interview. I am a huge fan of Salina and her books and can’t wait to get my hands on a finished copy of Be A Friend this weekend at her launch party.
Jealous that you’re able to go to the launch party! The photos from the event were awesome!
I waited ’til I finally received BE A FRIEND from the library. It took a while because it’s in demand! This is SUCH a beautiful book π To me, its palette is reminiscent of Loren Long’s gorgeous “Otis” books. I loved getting to know more about you, Salina. I know we all have different tastes and opinions when it comes to things like awards (since we have them), but to me, this is the type book I think of when I think “Caldecott.” No aspect of it is forced to fit the most recent climate of what people expect or demand. It is timeless π
Such a wonderful book, right?! Pardon the play on words, but the heart definitely shines through in BE A FRIEND. (and with everything Salina says π
